On 7 March 2025, the Arrupe Centre for Research and Training (CARF) had the honour of welcoming the Honourable Checain Malandji Nswana, National Deputy, as part of the launch of an action initiated in favour of women in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, victims of an unjust war for 30 years.
During his visit, the Honourable Checain Malandji responded to the CARF call for funds for the operation « A candle for a victim woman », a poignant initiative of CARF women on the occasion of International Women's Rights Day. This campaign aims to help and hope these women victims of male wickedness. Each candle, symbolically sold at the price of 5000 FC, represents an act of solidarity with those suffering indescribable tests.
Accompanied by Father Michael Bushiri, SJ, Director General ad interim of CARF, the Honourable Malandji visited the various facilities of the Centre, including the administration offices, the training rooms and conferences, the library and the restaurant. He showed particular interest in the library, a well-equipped and carefully organized place to support education and reflection. This moment was marked by profound exchanges on the functioning of the centre and its impact in the community.
In his message shared on social media, the Honourable Malandji expressed admiration for the efforts undertaken to date by CARF and recalled his role as representative of the people: working for the well-being of the people. He also stressed that this visit was not only a meeting but also, and above all, a real moment of sharing and reflection on the concrete actions to be taken for a better future. As a sign of gratitude, CARF gave him a present.
